Our mission

To love God, love our neighbors, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Love God

God has created us to love him with our entire being (Matthew 22:37-38). Our greatest purpose in life is to know God and enjoy him as we partner with him in mission throughout our lives. At West Charlotte Church, we help one another know, experience, and love God through our worship services, community groups meetings, and one-on-one conversations.

Love Our Neighbors

God has created us to be loved by him and reflect that love in the way we care for others (Matthew 22:39). At West Charlotte Church, we love others within our church by walking alongside them with care, support, encouragement, and counsel. We love our neighbors outside of our church by partnering with like-minded ministries and churches within our area to provide care and support to those around us.

Make Disciples

God gave the church the mission of making disciples of all the nations (Matthew 28:16-20). At West Charlotte Church, we make disciples by teaching, counseling, and training our members to grow and mature in their walk with the Lord, and to share their gifts with others, for the benefit of the kingdom of God.

Our values

Gospel-centered

God’s Word is best summarized through the Gospel of Jesus Christ: that God loved the world so much that he sent Jesus to die for the sins of his people, that they would be forgiven, adopted into a new family, and given a new life and hope. This Gospel isn’t just a message that we receive when we first become a Christian. It is a message that we preach to ourselves every day, as the Holy Spirit reminds us daily that we are forgiven, loved, accepted, and being made new.

This Gospel-centered value affects not just the message we preach and teach, but it also affects our church culture and how we relate to one another. We love one another boldly, with humility and a willingness to confess sins to one another (because we are all sinful), and a willingness to forgive one another as Christ has forgiven us.

Cross-cultural

God has created this world and all humankind with a beautiful diversity that he loves and affirms. Throughout scripture, God shared his intention that his love and salvation would extend to all nations and tribes and tongues. The gospel of Jesus Christ breaks down barriers and walls of hostility (Galatians 3:28), and one day a multi-ethnic crowd will gather around the throne of Jesus in perfect harmony and unity and praise.

We know this is God’s heart and we seek to live out this love of diversity and cross-cultural value in every aspect of our church. We desire that every person in our church can enter knowing that healthy aspects of their culture will be honored and celebrated in our church, as a reflection of God.

For West Charlotte

God has called us to love our neighbors. At West Charlotte Church, we take this call seriously by prioritizing our mission to our local community around West Charlotte Church. While we are blessed to have church members coming from many different parts of Charlotte, we encourage our people to unite in love and care for our local West Charlotte neighborhoods. Out of this love we care for the physical and spiritual needs of the women, men, and children all around us.

Our beliefs

West Charlotte Church at Freedom is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. It is God’s true revelation and our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

The Trinity

We believe there is one true God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Humanity and Sin

We believe that all people are sinners and, apart from God’s mercy, are unable to save themselves from sin and its consequences.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the work of God alone. In His grace, He saves sinners not because of human merit or foreseen faith, but according to His sovereign purpose and mercy.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and resurrection, He accomplished salvation for all who trust in Him alone.

God’s Covenant Promises

We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people, not only as individuals but also in families across generations, according to His covenant promises.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in God’s people and gives them strength, wisdom, and grace to trust Christ and follow Him.

The Return of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ will return bodily and visibly to judge all people and to bring His people to Himself.

The Christian Life

We believe that every part of life is to be lived for the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Created in the Image of God

We believe that God has created all people in his image, reflecting his glory. As such, all people have inherent dignity and value as image bearers.
